People who are considering a career in Racing will get a golden opportunity with the Australian Racing and Equine Academy (AREA) announcing a series of Taster Skills Sets.
An “Introduction” Taster Skills Set, covering basic stable duties and how to handle horses, will be run at the Academy’s Richmond College over a two-week period.
Providing job seekers with basic stable skills will be complimented with work experience at a real racing stable following the training which will boost their chances of employment in racing.
“This is a great opportunity for people of all ages who are considering a career in Racing,” said Academy Training Manager, Karlie Triffitt. “For those that have always wanted to ‘give it a go’, these Skills Sets are free of charge and will provide basic horse handing skills that will kick start their career.”
Other Skills Sets to be rolled out by AREA include Horse Health and Welfare, which will be run at Metropolitan Racecourses.
“The horse health and welfare course will aim to educate how identify factors that affect racehorse performance,” Triffitt said. “There may be additional Skill Sets announced at a later date.”
